Welcome!TRUTH AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Our name Tamarao is a variant of the name Tamaraw, along with the names tamarau and tamarou. We chose tamarao as our newspaper’s name and logo in order to highlight the unique qualities of the Mindoro Island and its treasured species. The tamarao is a fierce and independent creature. And we believe it is an apt symbol of the kind of journalism we wish to espouse in our home province.

Defying Odds: A Dyslexic Debuts Her Book at the Biggest Book Fair
From 11th September to 15th September 2024, the much-anticipated book fair in the Philippines is about to happen. Known as the largest and longest-running book fair, the 2024 Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) will showcase a diverse range of books in several genres from international and local authors. Kaye Tolentino (a.k.a. Miss Kaye) will officially debut her book, Guess How Marion Feels, in the Philippines. Inspired by a challenge she overcame, she wrote a book to help parents, teachers and guardians support their kids on teaching social and emotional skills. Often, we associate dyslexic with difficulties of reading and writing. But there is a dyslexic condition which comes along with what is called auditory processing disorder or APD for short.
According to www.succeedwithdyslexia.org, APD is a difference in how the brain processes sounds and language that surround it every day. This is a challenge that could result in misunderstandings due to confusion in sounds, actively turning to face an ear towards the speaker, difficulties in expressing themselves clearly, etc.
Miss Kaye is passionate about helping others who might be secretly struggling. Her book, Guess How Marion Feels, offers a resource for recognizing and naming emotions through facial expressions. Good for kids in their early childhood development stage. This interactive book is also a valuable tool and inclusive as it caters for both neurodivergent (e.g., APD, autistic), and neurotypical.
Her book, Guess How Marion Feels, will be available in paperback printed by Sinag Publishing Press. She will be at the Kahel Press booth for book signing on 11 September for book signing between 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Let’s support our fellow Lagunenses, Miss Kaye and Sinag Publishing Press!
